Our day starts with having the chance to get to know the city of Heraklion, Crete’s bustling capital. The birthplace of Nikos Kazantzakis and El Greco gives the sense of a cosmopolitan city at first, but you can find many more if you take the time to wander its back streets and explore it. The imposing fortress of Koules at the port, the Venetian fortifications around the city, the famous Lions’ Square, the many Byzantine churches, the numerous Ottoman drinking fountains, the Municipal Library, the Art Gallery, and the Archaeological Museum are only some of the sights not to be missed. Heraklion has a thriving café and restaurant scene, the island’s best shopping, and lively nightlife -in part thanks to its many students.
After our stop at the city of Heraklion, we visit the famous Saturday open-air market, a bazaar where you can find almost anything you may imagine: the freshest fruit and vegetables, creamy cheese, juicy olives, olive oil, wine, raki, honey, herbs, leather goods, hats, jewelry, toys, cosmetics, fabrics, upholstery – you name it.
For those who wish to experience something different, there is one more destination that you can choose for the rest of the day: the Creta Aquarium. This high-tech indoor sea is situated a few kilometers away from Heraklion. It is inhabited by some 2500 Mediterranean and tropical aquatic critters, and it can surely bring smiles to even the most jaded traveler. You can watch jellyfish, sharks, skates, corals, and anything from small fish to tuna that lives in the Mediterranean. There are also multimedia features and multilingual displays for your convenience.
After our Heraklio tour, we can enjoy our coffee in the café of the building that overlooks the big blue, before we set off to our hotels.

Don’t bring too much money. Credit/Debit cards are accepted almost everywhere.

Water, lip balm, insect repellent, and anti-bacterial hand wipes/hand sanitizer are sometimes essential.
Leave your valuables at your hotel.

The tour to Heraklion & Creta Aquarium is subject to weather conditions. If the tour is canceled due to bad weather you will be fully refunded, or you will be given the option of an alternative date.
Don't get reckless on the bus. You don't want your day to end early, do you? Misbehavior on the bus can get you into trouble and ruin your day. You could end up sitting on the bus while the others enjoy the destination.
Don't wander off. Listen carefully when the tour guide gives instructions about sticking with the group or sticking with an assigned partner even when going to the restroom. Don't ever wander off on your own, or your trip could end badly. If you break this rule, you could end up missing the timeline!
Respect the Tour Guides and Bus Drivers. You should respect any Tour Guides and Bus Drivers and listen to them as you would your own teacher or parents. They have a big responsibility, watching after so many customers at one time. They can't afford to give too much attention to one "squeaky wheel," so they will probably be intolerant to distractions. Don't be disruptive.
Respect nature. Some day trips will take you into contact with animals or plants. For your own safety, be mindful of potential dangers, and don't assume you can tug, pull, tease, or touch things safely.
Keep an eye on the clock. If you are supposed to meet your group for lunch or for loading onto the bus, you should keep an eye on the time. You don't want to miss lunch, and you surely don't want to be left behind.
